Bio:
Xiamara Martinez is a Chicana, 1st-generation, low-income transfer from Palomar College. She joined the NavCal program in Fall 2018. Xiamara is from the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, CA, and was brought up in socially-toxic environments. At Cal, she is apart of many communities such as Underground Scholars, DSP, and EOP. She is also a DSP-TRiO Peer Leader where she supports her fellow members of the disabled community. Through the Public Service Center, she previously worked as both a BUILD Literacy Director and a Public Service Internships Director where she supported several Bay Area social justice organizations that serve Latinx/Black communities. More recently, Xiamara won the Public Service Center Peter E. Haas Public Service Leaders Fellowship.
